Filet Mignon Steak Recipes

Steak Frites

Steak Frites is french fries served with steak. In this recipe, we use Filet Mignon.

Ingredients

  • 4 Idaho potatoes (around 2 ½ lbs.)
  • 2 tsp. extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tsp. coarse salt
  • 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
  • 4, four oz. slices of filet mignon
  • Dijon mustard, for serving
  • Cooking spray

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 450 degrees and place two baking sheets in the oven.
  2. Peel potatoes and cut into 1/4 inch sticks. Put into a bowl and toss with olive oil, 1 1/2 tsp. salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper.
  3. Remove baking sheets from oven and cat with cooking spray. Lay potatoes on baking sheets and bake. Toss occasionally until they are golden brown. Around 20-30 minutes.
  4. While potatoes cook, heat a heavy skillet over medium heat until hot.
  5. Put filet slices in a layer of plastic wrap and pound lightly with the flat side of a meat tenderizer. They should be 1/2 inch thick.
  6. Season filets with remaining salt and pepper. Sear in hot skillet to brown on both sides. Will be about two minutes on each side for medium rare.
  7. Serve with Frites and mustard.
