Sirloin and Veggie Kebabs

Ingredients
  • 4 tsp. whole coriander seeds, finely ground
  • 4 tsp. anise seeds, finely ground
  • 1 T. minced garlic
  • 1 T. ground paprika
  • ¼ tsp. cayenne pepper
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • Salt
  • 1 ½ lbs. boneless sirloin steak, cut into 1 ¼ in. cubes
  • 20 small white button mushrooms (10 oz.)
  • 12 red pear onions (3 oz.), peeled and cut in half lengthwise
  • Fresh ground black pepper
  • Metal or wooden skewers; if using wood, make sure they are soaked in water for at least ½ hour prior to cooking
Directions
  • Pre-heat grill or grill pan until hot.
  • Place ground coriander and anise into a medium bowl. Add the garlic, paprika, cayenne, and ¼ cup olive oil.
  • Season with salt and add the sirloin cubes, stirring to coat it evenly.
  • Combine the onions and mushrooms in a medium bowl with the remaining olive oil; season with salt and pepper.
  • Divide steak on skewers, leaving a space in each one. Divide the veggies on different skewers.
  • Grill the sirloin until well-browned and grill the veggies until tender and a little charred; around 5-7 minutes for both.
  • Serve on skewers.
  • Serves 4
