Rib Eye with Plum Sauce - Heartland Steaks

Steak Ingredients

  • 6 boneless rib eye steaks -- 6 oz each
  • 1/4 cup red vermouth OR chicken broth
  • 5 tablespoons steak sauce
  • 4 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 3 plums, sliced and pitted
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil

Plum Sauce Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
  • 4 teaspoons chopped fresh ginger
  • 2 small onion, chopped finely
  • 2 tablespoon bottled mango chutney
  • 8 plums, cubed and pitted
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup apple juice
  • 2 tablespoon lime juice

Steak Instructions

  1. Mix together red vermouth or chicken broth, steak sauce, garlic cloves, plums, and olive oil.
  2. Pour marinade into deep dish for marinating.
  3. Place steaks in marinating dish and marinate for at least 3 hours.

Plum Sauce Instructions

  1. Combine onion and olive oil in small saucepan and cook over low heat for 5-6 minutes or until softened.
  2. Combine cilantro, ginger, chutney, plums, apple juice, and lime juice in a medium mixing bowl.
  3. Mix well and set aside.

Cooking Instructions

  1. Preheat grill to medium high heat
  2. Place marinated steaks on grill and sear approximately 6 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness.
  3. When done, remove steaks from grill and place on a plate.
  4. Spoon plum sauce over steaks and serve.
