Tips for Planning a Barbeque Get Together
Barbeques are great because they are relatively inexpensive, casual, and fun. People like the relaxed atmosphere and spending time together outside.
If you want to save some money on your barbeque, buy your charcoal in advance when it is on sale. You can stock up on it and not worry about running to the store if you are short. You can also grill tasty, but inexpensive food. Juicy ribeye steaks and steakburgers will always satisfy. Chicken can also be bought at lower prices and if you want a cheap side item go for corn on the cob.
If you have a large get together, have each family or friend bring a side dish. Let them know what to bring so you don't have eight bags of Doritos. Fruit, vegetable platters, and even plastic ware and paper plates will save you money.
You may need some extra chairs, so ask guests to bring some folding chairs if they have them. Worst case scenario, people can sit on blankets on the lawn.
Whatever meat you serve, make sure it is defrosted all the way. Use a meat thermometer to make sure all meat is cooked at the right temperature. If your charcoal is getting cool, add new charcoal and wait until it heats up again.
